I spent an entire day trying to figure out how to do this, banging my head against my desk, and getting frustratingly vague answers/result from countless google searches. So I decided to write up this guide, I apologize for how long it is, but I wanted to be as detailed and as clear as possible.
It may seem like a lot, but once setup, it's quite a quick process. I hope this helps someone! At the time of writing this, only the Mupen64Plus core allows the use of HD texture packs (ParaLLel N64 does not).In RetroArch, download Mupen64Plus core via the online updater, launch an N64 game with it, open the Quick Menu and navigate to Options. When loading a texture pack into Project64, if you get an error complaining about running out of memory, then you'll need to apply the to Project64's exe.

Twitch not showing wow addons. You may want to also apply the.If your texture pack works in Project64 but not RetroArch when you copy the.htc over, it's likely due to Project64 not creating the.htc completely. I had this happen with which is very large in size and has thousands of textures. What fixed it for me is when I quit out of Project64, it created a cache.htc files, but it was 0KB and I had to give it a few minutes to finish generating the file even though it was there. Once the file was 1,170,842KB, I copied it over to RetroArch and it worked.
Hey man, you're is the best guide I've found in the interwebs. I was able to follow your directions and get the SUPER MARIO 64 texture pack converted successfully.
However, I can't seem to get the one for Majora's Mask working. The yellow text pops up for a fraction of a second, and the the ROM just loads. I'm running P64 as admin, I've got the directories setup. I've tried renaming the loose files texture pack to anything I can think of.
The same as the.n64 ROM file, the same as the title of the game as displayed by Project64.Any advice?. I just followed this guide and, when I ran Project64 and saw the hi-res textures, I ended Emulation, but no.htc file was created. I exited the program, tried again, nothing.I even installed it in a different location (originally Program Files, did it in Downloads instead and ensured it wasn't in read-only), as well as running Project 64 as an administrator, but still no.htc files being generated.Any ideas?EDIT:. Turns out I grabbed the DDS version and not the PNG.I tried the Hypatia Mario Craft pack I saw linked elsewhere and that worked for me, but I didn't like the actual textures. I did notice it used PNGs instead, so I went back to the link and grabbed the PNG version, tried again. Still didn't work. One big difference I noticed is that, when I used the Hypatia one, it took a while to load a bunch of the textures the same way you described (with the yellow text).
How To Install Super Mario 64 Texture Packs
It must not be loading the one from the link I'm using since it loads the game immediately.Guessing there's some difference there, but I'm not sure what it is. Hoping to find a more realistic HD upgrade for Mario 64 that I can use though!EDIT 2: Got the Mollymutt one to work.
