Item set bonuses apply immediately when party members are swapped in! No need re-equip!. Autolooting of randomly generated treasure without bringing up loot UI!.
Party Rogues will automatically help out with lockpicking & disarming trap after you fail!PLEASE REMEMBER TO COMPLETELY REMOVE ANY OLD VERSIONS WHEN INSTALLING A NEW VERSION. This is a compilation of various bug fixes for the game that deals with bugs in the script. It is primarily intended for those who want to play the 'pure' game without major tweaks but also enjoy bug fixes that are included in those tweak packages. These fixes have only been tested against a pure standard version 1.04 build. The majority of fixes either use EventManager or modifies 2da files and leaves the major game scripts alone, thus they should be compatible with most other mods that use EventManager, but no guarantees.INSTALLATION:Each component can be installed separately. Just copy the folder into your override directory, which for most installs will be at:/My Documents/BioWare/Dragon Age/packages/core/override. Core FilesThis folder contains the base code REQUIRED for any other component to work. The entirety of this folder should be copied into your override folder as per installation instructions.COMPATIBILITY:There is a game imposed limitation which can cause things to break if you have too many mods all affecting the same event.
In particular, cutscenes & plot events such as the 'Siege of Redcliffe' can fail to execute properly. All the components from this pack will co-exist with each other without introducing such bugs, but any additional mod can cause problems. This fixpack utilizes a modifed version of Anakin5's Event Manager (designed to work within this limitation.
However, for it to work properly, there must be no other mod that contains any file with the name 'engineevents.gda' installed directly into /override. Mods installed as proper addins (via.dazip) are fine and will not break this pack.FIXES:. Fix - Ability Weapon RequirementsFixes the bug where some abilities that require melee weapons remain active when ranged weapons are swapped in.
Fix - Arrow of Slaying Level Based DamageBonus damage for Arrow of Slaying was not coded accurately as (level difference)^2, but rather as a bitwise XOR with 2. This fixes it so that the level based bonus damage is once again the square of the level difference on targets of lower level. Fix - Blood Control Damage on ResistEnemies that resist blood control will now properly suffer a DoT. Enemies that get controlled no longer get a DoT as well.
Was wondering if anyone had any advice, my tank can't really take any hits.I use Alistair as my main tank, also with Sten for damage, my hero for ranged DPS (archery build), and Morrigan (DPS and slight heals). But Alistair just can't seem to take a hit at all. Get Shale asap when you finish Ostagar. Shale is extremely op when tanking and can even do decent damage. Also, Shale will be the last one to go down if ♥♥♥♥ gets real. So lesson here, Shale is both an amazing party member and companion for humor. Also everyone should have had access to Shale, especially if they played on pc. Anyone who bought the game new on xbox(like myself at launch) got Shale and it came with all the pc versions as well. Shale isn't required, Alistair is certainly a good tank mid game when he's finally built up, but from right the get go to the end of the damn game Shale will put the team on her back and carry hard.
So, some ramblings for anyone listening:I upped Alistair's armor. Between Sten and Alistair (they both have the threaten ability), they seem to do an okay job of tanking. Note: In Sten's tactics, I have him activate threaten whenever Morrigan gets attacked; it's quite a good threat puller when my rangers start aggroing too much. With the previous mentioned party, I managed to run through the Dalish elf storyline alright.Though, I'm planning to take Shale with me on my next mission. (myself (rogue), Sten, Shale, and Morrigan)random notes: I think I'm going to concentrate on Shale for early game, though I AM planning on switching back to Alistair when I hit mid-game. I don't want to use Shale end-game because I feel like she'd be missing out on a lot of buffs and enchantments that she can't get because she can't use any equipment. Looking at Alistair's stats and playing with him though, he definetly DOES need some points in dex.
All that constitution doesn't go too far if he's getting bombarded constanty - he needs some dex for dodge. Thanks for all the advice guys! I've not played in awhile however somethings you could try their is way you can set up routines for character to make them do certain actions at certain times this could possibly help.Something else is actually taking contol of of either sten or alistar and dong things yourself, for armor for my tanks I usaully use the dragon bone plate armor made by wade and then usaully to top things off I will also use ring of ages with that since it gives 20% resistance to most damage. This essensially makes the tank really resistant to fire and have an ok resistance to most other things. Constition is quite important your gonna want dex to dodge strenght for damage and some willpower for stamina.
Getting Alistair's dex high enough to get the max tier shield talents is a priority. And once you have his strength at I believe 36, at which point you can equip the blood dragon armor, he becomes much more set it and forget it. Have morrigan cook up some health poultices, and set a tactic for Alistair to use one when his health gets below 25-50%, whichever you prefer. If you're having morrigan throw heals now and then, give her a tactic with a hgh priority to heal him at 50%. Which is what I usually do early on when I'm using Morrigan anyway.
I have very few problems with Alistair tanking throughout the entire game, and a lot of that has to do just as much with party makeup/tactics as it does with Alistair himself. And I'm not just talking normal. I'm talking even Nightmare.
Yes, Shale is an amazing tank. But Alistair can work too, you just have to make sure your party's tactics are set in such a way as to help each other survive. Archers using pinning shot, DPS warriors reducing enemy's melee damage, Mages throwing CC's and damage intelligently rather than willy-nilly. This naturally means you'll be pausing, issuing orders and unpausing regularly, Baldur's Gate style.A few pointers on tactics.1.
Dragon Age Origins Best Tactics
ALWAYS have your damage dealers' top priority tactic to simply attack your tank's target. (should be fairly common sense)2. If you're using a melee rogue, have another tactic set to use poisons to increase their damage. If you're using the right ones, you can even stun targets, making them easy prey for everyone already attacking them!3. Save abilities like Shield Bash for when something.really. bad is going down. Like if the DPS warrior (sten in your case) gets overwhlemed by a mabari or spider.
Shield bash will knock the attacker off of him, saving his life very quickly. (same goes opposite for if alistair gets attacked.
Dragon Age Origins Best Tank Build
Sten uses pommel strike to knock the attacker off, saving your tank while morrigan shores him back up with a heal.)4. NEVER just let your party clump together wherever the AI puts them. Positioning is key in a tactically focused game like this. Make sure there is enough space between your melee and ranged you can react if one of them peels threat.5.
KNOW YOUR ENEMY. As aforementioned, some enemies have special abilities that make them especially dangerous.
Mabari and Spiders using overwhelm, or a revenant pulling everyone in close for a massive swipe. Be ready to deal with these situations, whether it be saving a cooldown, or simply throwing a lifeward on the person most likely to die. That's all I can think of off the top of my head, but they're all tested, tried and true methods of beating this game no matter the difficulty. Sure some party members may be inherently better at some things than others, but that doesn't mean you're required to use them. Sometimes you just have to put a ltitle extra effort in, or get creative.

Dexterity is the tank stat, NOT strength or constitution.Dexterity prevents damage (along with armor and spell resistances), you only need enough STR for items and skills and only enough constitution that you dont die in two hits and for skills. You want as much in dex as possible to avoid all the hits.High constitution doesnt make it any easier for the healer to heal your tank, he takes the same damage. In fact, you can make dps rogues and dual wield warriors with high dex that can 'tank'. They just cant take agro from others easily and dont have CC skills like a shield warrior has.
